Mission and Description
Located in the southeast part of District 66, Westgate Elementary was built in 1957 and rebuilt 1975 after being destroyed by a tornado. Westgate Elementary is a School-wide Title I building that services about 300 students K-6. Our student population is among the most diverse in the district, and the staff is committed to ensuring individual student success for all students.
Westgate Elementary staff members are committed to ensuring maximum student engagement and achievement for all students. In order to achieve this goal, Westgate Elementary has implemented four core strategies: (1) We will focus on a guaranteed and viable curriculum, best practice instruction, balanced authentic literacy framework, high functioning Professional Learning Communities, and ongoing professional development. (2) We will provide quality instruction by integrating literacy skills, creative and critical thinking, and authentic problem solving. (3) We will locus on supporting personalized learning with opportunities for student and staff to discover strengths through choice. (4) We will focus on enhancing all experiences by integrating new and existing technologies in a meaningful way. Through these core strategies, Westgate Elementary is committed to each student reaching his/her full potential.
